Hello all,

I am new to Maintain x and I am in the process of setting my company up on the software.  Im looking to set up the system in such a way that I am able to track everything as efficiently as possible.  I want to set up PM for motors that we have here where Technicians take the amperage reading of 3 phase motors and put the readings in to the software.  I want to use meters to be able to record and track trends for each phase. Are any of you all doing this?

Hey @Lcsmithadc ,

Welcome to the community! This sounds very doable with existing features.

  1. Upload your asset.*
  2. Create one meter per phase and assign them to the asset.
  3. Start a new work order, then assign it to the asset.
  4. Create a new procedure within the new work order.
  5. Add 3 meter fields then assign the meters you created in step 2.**
  6. Click “Add Procedure” to save.
  7. Set the Due Date
  8. Add a recurrence based on your preferred repeating schedule.***
  9. Assign technician(s).
  10. Click “Create”.

Repeat this process for each asset.

* Whether you upload the motor itself or the machine it belongs to, I recommend staying consistent in your asset management process to avoid confusion.

** One common mistake I see users make is reusing the same meters in other work orders or procedures. This ends up being misleading as the trend line will then start reading from other machines. Make sure you create one meter per type of reading (amps in this case) per asset, then assign them accurately.

*** We often tacked these onto any existing inspections to reduce paperwork. In this case, you would edit the inspection work order instead of creating a new one, then add or modify the procedure in that specific work order.

Hope this helps!

Mike! Thanks for the direction.  This is actually what I did.  Your comment was confirmation! Thanks for the reply!
