Disposed, Retired Assets.

Hello community,

thank you for this space. Recently, 35 machines that had Work Orders were decommissioned and sold. I now want to classify those machines as 'retired assets' and stop the work orders assigned to those assets, but I'm not sure what the proper procedure is in this section.

Could anyone guide me on the best process to make the most out of MaintainX? Or anyone who has gone through the same situation it seems too simple to just set the asset as offline and leave it at that. Regards.

Filter your work order view by the assets you want gone, tick the box in the top left, and click delete. Delete the assets if they’re no longer on site. The asset data will still be there; you’ll just need to include deleted assets in your view if you ever need it again.

If you want to be extra thorough for analytics, use the dropdown in each work order to stop repeating if it’s a PM and cancel the work order before deleting. Same goes for being thorough with assets- change to asset status “Do Not Track” before deleting.

Added note- I prefer to use the “Offline” status as a marker for assets that are still on site but nonoperational.

I believe what you are looking for is the ‘Delete’ option. It sounds scary, however ‘Delete’ in MaintainX is customer-facing label. Any assets that you delete are Archived (you can restore then if you do it by mistake or you recommissioning them later down the line). This however doesn’t take care of the work orders (which you also want to ‘Delete’). There’s an option on the sidebar allowing you to see Deleted Assets / Parts or Work Orders if you have sufficient account permissions.
