On the edit page there is a drop down for “part types”. You can type “critical” in this area and it will give you the option to create that as a part type. I have added many specific types for parts used in different areas and equipment.

Go in Settings under features and parts inventory, set preferences. You can also select teams to manage parts request escalation and critical parts escalation. You can also manage part types from this area.

​@Rob M​@James Beers I was able to very easily create a part type for critical as well as a couple others I needed. Do you know if there is any way to limit issuing a “Critical” part to an asset the part is not assigned to?

​@JCathey I don’t think you can limit where the part is issued. Although, it won’t show as a primary part for the asset when you are making a work order for the asset. It would have to be chosen by scrolling through the choices.
