Hey Derek,
We ran into this need as well. Luckily, there’s a few ways to go about this one. I personally used option #1 because we had enterprise enabled, but the others work just as well.
- Custom permissions can be set up so the same user account can create both work requests and work orders. It’s normally an enterprise feature, so I’d recommend contacting your account manager.
- Set up a work request portal and use the web link to submit requests without an account.
- Register a second account as requester level using a different email, then keep that second account logged in on a separate browser profile.
Toggling between the two account types is technically possible if you have two admin accounts, but if you’re making a second account, you might as well go with option #3 and not pay for the extra subscription.
Hi Derek,
There is another alternative however I'm quite not sure if this option is still available since I believe there were some changes in MaintainX last year or at the beginning of 2024.
I used to work for a company where our planner would assign people into teams and our Maintainx account manager would change the custom permissions of each team (and each member of them) according to our needs. At the time, we didn't have an enterprise account.
I would suggest you to reach out to you account manager and ask him if he could customize a team to create requests.
