Is there a way to require comments before closing a work order. I have no way of knowing what was done, to remedy a situation without comments.

@ebenitez25 there a couple of ways to do this in MaintainX.

On the backend, we can enable settings for you that would require comments for any works that are put on hold (we can also enable it for cancelled/skipped work orders, if you have that option enabled). If you would like to enable this setting, please contact your account manager and they can help you out.

We don’t have the ability to require comments when work orders are marked as done, but if you are on our Enterprise plan, we have very similar functionality called Work Order Summaries (part of MaintainX CoPilot). When Work Order Summaries are enabled, users are prompted to record/type a summary of the job they just completed before they close out the work order. You can make summaries required for all work orders, or certain types of work orders (e.g. if you wanted to make summaries required for all reactive work orders, but optional on all others). You can read more about Work Order Summaries here: https://help.getmaintainx.com/complete-a-work-order#add-a-summary-to-a-work-order

Hope this helps!

I also had the same issue, I created a Reactive/Breakdown work order template for the engineers to use, it required an asset and title, I then added the procedure to include pre and post work checks such as dynamic risk assessments, ladder pre-use checks, work permits, pre-work authorisation, production hand back signature (food industry) and also a description text field they are required to fill in at the end of the procedure.

They can choose yes or no for each of the above so they do not have to do them if not needed but the details of the work completed has to be done.

This was the best way to show on the shift report as well the work that was done.
