Hello, I'm looking for information on the integration of Samsara to MaintainX! Are there any company's utilizing this integration that could help with starting the process? thanks
I’ve been thinking a lot about how we keep critical know-how from walking out the door when our most experienced teammates hang up their hard hats.Last week I spoke with Facilities Dive about why apprenticeships are more than a hiring play—they’re a business strategy. In maintenance and reliability, 90 % of the craft is learned on the floor. But the context—the little tricks that make your facility run like your facility—never comes from a textbook. It comes from working shoulder-to-shoulder with someone who’s solved the problem a hundred times.📖 Read the article: https://www.facilitiesdive.com/news/among-those-in-skilled-trades-high-hopes-renewed-focus-apprenticeships/748737/We’re seeing leading ops teams formalize these programs with: Structure. Clear learning paths tied to real work orders. Committed mentors. Veterans who get time—and recognition—to teach. Scalable content. SOPs, videos, and checklists that live where the work happens (shameless plug: MaintainX makes this easy)
In the event someone forgets to put an asset back online is there a means to go back later and adjust the asset downtime? I have looked at the work order and the asset and just don’t see a way to do this. My downtime report is inaccurate, and I need to figure out how to correct it.
I want to be able to add multiple assets (in this case several sash windows need maintainance and will be done as a single job by a single contractor) to one work order. Is this possible? It seems like you have to create a work order for each single asset which is clunky.

Do we have the ability to list parts required to perform a PM in the procedure? If not there can I put them in the work order and it will then populate all future recurring work orders?
I have noticed that work orders with a status of Done meaning work has been completed can still be edited. Has anyone found a way to lock work orders that have been completed and reviewed to ensure there are no outstanding actions against that job? Our maintenance & engineering director wants to have a supervisory review for work orders and once complete the job will be done-done meaning closed out. Any ideas? As always thank you all,John
I have multiple assets that need to have run time captured which will drive maintenance. My question is do I need a run time meter for each asset or do I create 1 run time meter and assign it to each asset? In a previous CMMS I used it only required me to create a single instance of the meter so I’m curious how MaintainX handles this instance. Thank you all.John
Our storeroom is a sublocation of another and I have tried to set up sub locations for my shelving and next would be bins. I can’t even add the shelving into my storeroom, how are other people creating storeroom locations to easily locate parts? Getting frustrated with this one. Thanks all,John
In the request module selecting a location has no effect on which assets are available to be selected. With it being first in the order of completion you might expect that selecting a location would limit available assets to only those in that location. This would make it easier for requesters to find the asset requiring attention. If this isn’t possible you may consider showing the asset field first since location is automatically filled from the asset selection.
Hello, I’m integrating with the /assets REST API endpoint. Currently, I am just using Postman to explore the API and figure out what queries are possible.https://api.getmaintainx.com/v1/docs#tag/Assets/paths/~1assets/get I have a use case where I want to list just the assets with a certain asset type. I see from the documentation that you can expand the asset_types, but I have not found a way to filter by this field. Any ideas on how I could achieve this?
I’m hoping this is common and I just haven’t figured it out yet so asking for help from the group. If I have an asset that has a Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual PM is there a way to only have the appropriate work order auto generated? My procedures build on each other so the Annual has all steps from Monthly and Quarterly. When the Annual is due, I don’t want either of the others to be created.
I am new to MX and may be missing something. I am accustomed to the IPSECA work process. Identify, Plan, Schedule, Execute, Close, and Analyse. I see that MX has all, but the Planning function covered. Can we add some Work Order statuses? It would be nice to have at least a “Planning” status. It would be even better if also had a “Waiting for Parts” and “Ready to Schedule”. In an organization that has many roles such as requestors, approvers, planners, schedulers, supervisors, crafts, analysts and or any combination of roles, the Work Order Status is normally data point used to designate who is responsible for the work order. The Work Order Status is the flow, or the maturity of the Work Order. With out the Planning status we have a very large to-do list.
Is there a way to set up a relationship so that if a child asset is down it also causes the parent to show as down?
Hello, I am new to MaintainX and I have been trying to do some integration with our system as it has been quickly adopted by many of our end users. I have had success with the API calls offered. Specifically, I am using the List Work Orders pulling into PowerBI. However, our team has added some custom labels and custom fields. We use a custom Work Type label instead of the built-in Work Type selection. How do I pull in these custom fields?
Very simple question: I want to label a part as a Critical Part? I’m in edit part ,and I do not see any options to label a part as critical. Thanks
I haven’t seen any means of tracking warranty information for assets, does MaintainX have the capability?
How can we make a work order visible to the entire team while still assigning it to an individual? The goal is to keep everyone informed about the status and updates without requiring them to search for the WO, while ensuring that one person remains accountable for the work. This approach also allows for a smooth handover if someone, for example, is on sick leave.
I like the ease of recording time on the mobile app but I can’t figure out how to capture time for any additional techs that work the job. We have some jobs that take multiple shifts to complete and will have several people working on a single work order. I need the ability to see labor for everyone that worked the job and how much time they put in on the job. Any help is greatly appreciated.Regards,John
When I create a new asset does the system automatically create a unique id number for it? In the tutorial it stated to include a unique identifier to enable searches for specific assets. In other systems there is an ID# and description, how does MaintainX handle this?
To my MaintainX community, this has been one of my favorite feature releases this year and it opens up many options to share your Work Orders with Vendors or Customers to complete.I would love to hear your thoughts about this feature and how you would use in your org?
How can we effectively manage the life cycle of parts in MaintainX?I understand that we can add an expiration date to a part, but what if we have multiple quantities of the same part, each with a different expiration date? For example, let's say I create a part called "AAA Batteries" and have 10 units in stock, but they each have different expiration dates. How should we handle this scenario? Is there any feature or method in MaintainX that supports tracking expiration dates at the unit or batch level?
HI! is there a way to add a priority choice?
Hello,We are working to setup our MaintainX CMMS. I am curious what you all do in the following situation. Example: we have a cooking kettle as a parent asset in a processing room location The kettle has associated valves, pumps, mixer/agitator, gearmotor, etc. which seem to make sense to be child assets of the kettle. On the other hand, we have electrical enclosures that might have 6 VFDs, many circuit breakers, fuses, harmonic filters, PLCs, etc inside. The equipment in the enclosure powers and controls 6 different assets. If the VFD for the kettle product pump motor is in the electrical enclosure, do you all make the VFD a child asset of the parent kettle asset?, or do you make the electrical enclosure the parent asset and everything of great enough value inside the enclosure is a child asset of the electrical enclosure?Or would you have a parent electrical asset for each production room and then breaker panels, electrical enclosures and everything inside, conduits/wiring in the r
Is there a way to assign a condition rating “1-5” to my assets, update the rating from 6 monthly visual assessments and track the changes in condition rating over time? Thanks,Ben
